The Story So Far
In 1877, the doors of the Spalding Hotel first swung open, offering weary travellers a hearty meal, a place to rest, and a warm country welcome. Over the decades, its walls have heard the laughter of celebrations, the quiet hum of conversation, and the stories of a community growing alongside it.
The original building, with its graceful additions (built in 1914 & 1921), still carries the charm of its old world architecture—leadlight windows casting soft light across spaces where friends gather, and history lingers in every detail. Built on land once part of the great Bundaleer pastoral run, the hotel is deeply woven into the fabric of the town, itself named by settler W.E. Lunn after his home in Spalding, Lincolnshire.
Today, the Spalding Hotel remains the beating heart of this rural community, lovingly cared for by current owners Fletch, Ange and Maya. With their passion for genuine hospitality, they’ve breathed new life into this historic landmark—welcoming guests not just as visitors, but as part of the story. Here, every stay, every meal, and every gathering adds another chapter to a tale that’s been unfolding for nearly a century and a half.
